Many people think that woods look after themselves, and to a large
extent they do. But most sites benefit from having the rides mowed
once or twice a year, to keep access open and also encourage a range
of different wild flowers. Longer term some thinning or replanting
is also sometimes necessary.
For many undertaking these jobs is part of the pleasure of owning a
wood. For others it may be a little daunting, especially if you live
away from your wood, and want to use your visits for relaxation
only.
We therefore offer a package to prospective purchasers, and can
guarantee to undertake some or all of your future management needs.
This includes:
A Sales Pack, with...
- details of previous Forestry Commission schemes for the wood
- a more detailed survey of the wood than found on the web
- contacts for the local Forestry Commission office, woodland
contractors in the area, FWAG and any local authority sponsored
woodland officer
- one year’s free membership of the local wildlife trust.
For each wood we can tailor a management package to suit your needs,
and arrange its implementation. A basic package will include ride
mowing and two visits a year to ensure the site is safe, including
clearing trees or branches that have fallen across rides. We can
also undertake larger scale works, including thinning or maintenance
of young trees.
But the choice is yours. We have had the pleasure of managing our
own woods for twenty years, but a sweaty day with a chain saw or
strimmer is not everyone’s idea of a weekend break! We can do the
hard work and leave you to the tranquillity for bird watching or
just a quiet walk.
Each woodland is also different, so please ask us if you would like
to discuss a long term arrangement for management, and we will be
pleased to assist.
