This woodland is
traditional oak coppice woodland in a very quiet location.
Approached by narrow lanes, we don’t recommend it for timber
lorries, but an ideal wood for a get away from it all weekend or
Sunday out. There is a track through the woodland and parking
within the entrance area.
Deer are regular
visitors, and their browsing keeps the woodland quite open for easy
access throughout. The wood has a carpet of bluebells in the
spring, and beware the pheasants in the lane, which expect you to
give way!
The wood is within the
Exe valley, six miles to the south of Exmoor National Park and
within eleven miles of the M5.
